12 - 22 July 2012 - Guildford College of Law
For the second part of our open-air season we returned to the beautiful gardens and Elizabethan manor house of the College of Law on Portsmouth Road. This new staging of Dream (we first staged it in 2007) continued the practice of promenade performance, where the audience moved with the action following the Lovers and the Mechanicals from the city into the magical woods and back again.
Stalwart director and designer Charlotte Conquest and Neil Irish created a contemporary Athens, taking inspiration for the fairy kingdom from the earthy world of travelling gypsies, their connections to herbal remedies, and that these are only momentary visitors to our human world. Evocative and breathtaking original music was created by Sound Designer and Composer Matt Eaton.
