We run a wide-range of drama clubs for children aged 7-18. We pride ourselves on creating a fun and supportive environment and all classes are led by actors and theatre professionals, many of which have been involved with our professional shows. In fact, several of our attendees have also gone on to appear in our professional production, such as Alice in Wonderland, The Winter's Tale and The Sonnet Walk.

Follow in the footsteps of our professionals with the Guildford Shakespeare YOUNG Company, a new weekly course for 12-18 year olds. Members will devise and rehearse a new play inspired by Shakespeare's work, to be performed as part of our Birthday Bash season in 2017.

The course will be led by GSC’s Head of Education and resident playwright, Ant Stones (The Wind in the Willows, Alice in Wonderland, Grimms' Fairy Tales). In addition, each member of the company will receive a GSC mentor, who will provide one-on-one acting sessions throughout the course.

The course is split into three phases. Phase 1 will focus on devising the script through practical exercises. Phase 2 will rehearse and improve the completed script. Phase 3 will complete the course with technical and dress rehearsals before the final public performance (venue TBC).

Complete the Online Application Form.

GSYC will be based at GSC HQ, Midleton Road, Guildford (next to Air Hop). The course is designed so children can join at the beginning of Phase 1 or Phase 2. Auditions will be held if the course becomes over-subscribed.

AT HOME WITH GSC (back to top)

In 2016 we began running a weekly club for groups of home-educated children. Mixing fun theatre games with performances of Shakespeare's plays we have found a unique way to bring the children together, build their confidence and learn new skills.

Past clubs have focussed on performance, playwrighting and stage combat.

If you would like to create your own theatre group, please contact us.
